Gas engine repair services provided by Reno Sparks Diesel include:

  • Cylinder block repair and replacement: this is the main component in your gas engine. The cylinder block holds all the other components for your gas engine together. The main purpose of the cylinder is to guide the pistons for optimal efficiency.
    • Cylinder head: there are two main holes in the cylinder head. One is for intake of gas or fuel and the other for exhaust. The main purpose of the cylinder head is to seal the cylinder block to prevent uncontrolled entry or exit of gases on cover valve engine.
  • Piston assembly repair and replacement: pistons are fitted to each cylinder to take in the gas pressure and transmit the thrust to the connection rod. The main purpose of a piston is to keep a tight seal for the cylinder.
  • Piston ring repair and replacement: pistons need to move freely inside the cylinder so piston rings are used to ensure proper fitting and eliminate vapor pressure leaks.
  • Connecting rod repair and replacement: connecting rods connect the pistons to the crankshaft and pass on the motion and thrust of the piston to the crankshaft. The big end is connected to the crankshaft and the small end is connected to the piston.
  • Crankshaft repair and replacement: the crankshaft takes in the thrust or energy from the piston and converts the motion.
  • Engine bearing repair and replacement: anytime there is a rotary or movement, bearings are needed. Bearings, sometimes called bushings, support the moving parts. The crankshaft, connecting rod, crank pin, crankshaft all use bearings.
  • Crankcase repair and replacement: main body of the engine is the crankcase. It contains the crankshaft and crankshaft bearings. The crankcase lubricates the system.
  • Valve repairs and replacement: valves are used to control the intake and exhaust of the engine. Valves sit in the port of the cylinder head and are held closed by a strong spring.
  • Spark Plug repair and replacement: spark plug replacement is a very common repair included in Reno Sparks Diesels tune up. Spark plugs ignite the compress air/fuel mixture which makes the engine work.
  • Injector repair and replacement: injectors are usually used in compression engine ignitions. Injectors spray the fuel into the combustion chamber.
  • Manifold repair and replacement: the main function of your engine’s manifold is to supply the air/fuel mixture and collect the exhaust gas from all the cylinders.
  • Camshaft repair and replacement: the camshaft is used in internal combustion engines to control the opening and closed of the valves in your engine. Proper timing of the camshaft is key to optimal engine performance.
  • Gudgeon pin or piston pin repair and replacement: the piston pin connects the piston to the connecting rod.
  • Pushrod repair and replacement: the pushrod is necessary when the camshaft is at the bottom end of the cylinder. The pushrod carries the camshaft motion to the valves in the cylinder head.

Flywheel repair and replacement:  the flywheel is secured to the crankshaft. The flywheel’s main function is to turn the shaft during the start of the stroke. It also helps maintain a more uniform motion in the crankshaft.
